Definition: An opportunity for SMEs to get listed on the stock exchange to raise equity capital for growth and expansion of SMEs in a cost effective manner just like major corporations.
Example: An SME, in need of capital for growth, underwent an SME IPO by listing his company on the stock exchange discovering also that risk distribution and the tax benefits were very beneficial for his company.
Business insight: For SME stocks to get listed and traded on exchange, a company has to come up with their Initial Public Offer (IPO) at the exchange's SME platform.
