Ecommerce has been by far the biggest disruptor in the retail industry. And the potential in India is immense. As per a report by the Boston Consulting Group on digital consumer spending, digital transactions in India are estimated to be at a $ 100 billion opportunity by 2020. Ecommerce platforms have provided a level playing field for smaller, more innovative brands to compete with retail giants for market share. It also gives business owners, regardless of where they are geographically, a global showcase for their products, and the ability to market their store to win a loyal customer base.

Presenting four women with strong design backgrounds who have each created their very own brands and successful online stores with GlobalLinker’s ecommerce platform.

The brainchild of Shivali Vakil, Artchetype Studio is the ultimate paradise for any stationery enthusiast. An accomplished architect, an innovative stationery designer and a passionate entrepreneur, Shivali lives and breathes design. Artchetype stationery is designed for users to explore their inner most ideas, thoughts and celebrate all that is beautiful in life. Shivali shares, “Artchetype was born from a series of questions. It seeks to add a shade of colour, spots of design and oodles of enthusiasm and freshness to neglected items which we spend hours with.”

The Artchetype Studio e-store showcases beautiful stationery, notebooks, calendars and planners that spark joy and a promise to make the most mundane task memorable. The e-store also features special discounts, an adorable mascot (Cubo) and gift hampers. Being a savvy social media user, Shivali has creatively leveraged Instagram to draw a lot of traffic to her e-store.

Cozy Cribs by Anmol Parwani

Founded by NIFT graduate and young mother Anmol Parwani, Cozy Cribs is a one-stop-shop for all kinds of baby bedding, bumpers, dohars, cushions and mats. Anmol’s two-and-a-half-year-old son, Veer is the inspiration behind Cozy Cribs. When Veer was born, Anmol struggled to find good baby bedding products and she decided to step in and fill this gap. She shares, “I graduated from NIFT several years ago and had moved on from design to a more corporate role and family life. I was looking for fitted bed linen sets for my new-born and couldn’t find anything that was perfect. Today, here I am designing them.”

Cozy Cribs products are designed with a lot of care and utmost importance is given to hygiene and fine quality material. Anmol is based out of Raipur and her ecommerce store has helped her attract customers from across the country. The store features a host of products in vibrant colours, with attractive banners and a functionality for customisation as well. The compelling product shots add to the appeal of this store. You can see her exciting Instagram page where she runs contests to get mothers in front of the phone (and not always behind it), sales, tips and announcements.

DQ by Nidhi Malhan

DQ stands for ‘Drama Queen’ and is a clothing brand created by Nidhi Malhan. True to the brand’s name, Nidhi specialises in creating clothes that are unapologetically flamboyant and unique. Nidhi’s clothes are all statement pieces and there is great attention to detail. From embellished dresses, t-shirts, accessories and formal wear, the DQ e-store boats of a wide selection of clothing. A seasoned designer, Nidhi focuses on creating styles for effortless dressing. She shares, “My brand is synonymous with impeccable style and chic couture to compliment your style.”

Nidhi has also gained a lot of traction by adopting the influencer marketing model. For instance, one of her outfits was worn by Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty for a reality show. A tweet by Shilpa, acknowledging Nidhi’s work, ensured that the outfit was a complete sell-out in a matter of days. Since then several celebrities have worn and endorsed her outfits, winning DQ a loyal fan following. Her Instagram account is interspersed with pictures of not only her loyal brand followers but also celebrities donning their DQ creations giving the brand that effortless edge which other brands crave for.

The Joy Factory by Navneet Nirh Rana

A graphic designer and a branding consultant by profession Navneet established The Joy Factory when she felt the need to for some personalised décor, invites and party products for her niece’s first birthday and couldn’t find anything in stores. Soon she started designing customised design party boxes, stationery, wall art and other personalised gifts, and eventually quit her job to devote her energies to taking her business to the next level. Navneet shares, “I have done a five-year commercial art course from Sophia Polytechnic in Mumbai, interned with a design house in the USA for a short span of time and worked in several other design firms. So, yes, my design sensibilities are my strength. In terms of quality, my products are on the higher end compared to other party products and I pay a lot of attention to quality, finishing and packaging. I want customers to receive that joy when they open the product, be it through the hand-written note, packaging or attention to detailing in design.”
The Joy Factory e-store features a range of products to make parties and celebrations more personalised and fun. From wall art, cake toppers to DIY party kits, stationery and custom work, the store offers a wide range of products.
